Give the next generation the benefit of your experience

Our industry advisors bring decades of experience across industries and want to pass on what they have learned. They work with motivated students and recent graduates who are eager to learn from people who have done the work, and they help growing companies solve real problems along the way.

  • A focused role at the moments where your judgment matters most.
  • Associates who arrive prepared and act on your feedback.
  • A clear view of what your guidance helped a real company achieve.
  • Introductions to business owners and senior peers across our network.
  • A role that fits around your schedule.

Industry advisors take part in the way that suits them

  • Lead advisor

A senior industry advisor in the project's field.

Owns the quality of the work and decides at each milestone whether it proceeds, is revised or is rescoped.

Time: At least every two weeks, plus a review before each client milestone.

  • Supporting advisor

An experienced professional in a related field.

Adds guidance and a second view without taking over the work.

Time: Kept up to date, and joins when useful.

  • Subject matter expert

Often a mid-career professional working in the field today.

Explains how things work in the field now and spots problems before they arrive.

Time: Brought in when the project needs one.

  • Speaker or event guest

Any industry advisor or community member.

Speaks at a workshop or one of our events, or simply attends to meet Associates, business owners and peers.

Time: One event or session at a time.

Advisor Impact Award

George Kalan shows what an industry advisor brings to our Associates

George began as an Apollo engineer, then built a career in consulting at Booz Allen and in venture capital as co-founder of Orien Ventures. He received the Advisor Impact Award for the time and commitment he gives the Associates he works with.

“Mentoring these students is some of the most fulfilling work I do. They are hungry to learn and ask the right questions, and along the way I get to help interesting companies solve real problems.”
George Kalan, Strategic Advisor, Consulting & Venture Capital
